DescriptionChinese porcelain circular box and cover from Jiajing period (1522-1566), in grey-green glaze, and exterior slightly yellow glaze. Of circular section with shallow domed cover, and the foot rim inward sloping. Decorated in underglaze blue, the cover with five roundels with cranes in flight surrounded by clouds alternating with four varied flower sprays and four auspicious symbols motifs. Auspicious symbol motifs repeated on box, and double line bands.
