DescriptionChinese porcelain dish from Wanli period (1567-1622). Of circular section with shallow well and wide flat rim. Decorated in underglaze blue, the center with two ducks swimming on a pond filled with water foliage, beneath two birds perched on an overhanging branch. It has plain cavetto, and the rim has a scrollwork band incorporating flying squirrels and peaches. The underside has a loosely drawn classic scroll and flowerhead motif alternating with precious symbols, above a band of five roundels filled with qilin. The footrim has diagonal and vertical hatches.
