DescriptionChinese porcelain rectangular box and cover from Ming dynasty/Wanli period (1567-1622) in bluish-green glaze. Of rectangular form with curved sides and indented corners, paneled top shoulders, straight foot rim. Decorated in underglaze blue, and the cover with two confronting dragons chasing a flaming pearl amid cloud scrolls and centered by a stylized mountain peak. The sides have a leaf motif in a scroll band, key-fret border on rims of box and cover, and foot outlined with bracket supports.
