DescriptionChinese porcelain "Scholar's Desk" accessory holder, of squat barrel shape, moulded horizontally in two parts. The domed top is pierced with a rectangular panel and one large and three smaller circular apertures, and low foot. Decorated in underglaze blue with continuous design of peonies and chrysanthemums issuing from rockwork alternating with insects and foliate. It is bordered by bands of classic scroll work and waves, and the top has sprays of pomegranate, peony, chrysanthemum and camellia.
