DescriptionA Böttger polished red-stoneware Augustus Rex pewter-mounted cylindrical tankard (Walzenkrug). It was decorated at Augsburg with Chinoiserie figures on terraces seated by tables drinking tea below palm-trees and flowering plants. It is divided by a central cartouche with a coronet below and there is a bird on a branch above. The hinged pewter cover has a ball thumb-piece.
