DescriptionThis object is a19th-century product which demonstrate the continued interest for the variety of styles developed by Rouen potters in the previous century. A type of decoration where the dominant motif is a large cornucopia surrounded by Eastern style flowers, birds and insects was well established by the mid-18th century. It is reminiscent of contemporary textile designs, especially Lyon’s woven silks which were decorated with a panoply of Asian motifs.
