DescriptionMeissen Kakiemon decorated lotus bowls and covers. They are painted in underglaze blue and in the Kakiemon palette with flower head and foliage roundels enriched in gilding. It is supported by a band enclosing a trellis pattern and flower heads in pale turquoise and lilac below a band of iron-red and gilt scrolls and tassels. The lower part of the bowls has a trellis pattern as well and enclosing panels with insects within foliage surroundings. The lotus petal moulded covers are enriched in iron-red, green, blue and yellow. The rim has a band of scrolls, flower heads and foliage, and with gilt on an iron-red ground. The brown stalk finials are also enriched in gilding, and applied with a hare and fungi.
