DescriptionMeissen 'Augustus Rex' yellow ground Chinoiserie vase and lid of inverted pear shape and circular base. Reserved at the front and back with gilt edge panels. One panel is depicting a Chinese man fishing for eels on the end of a jetty, with an attendant and a vase of flowers, while the second panel is showing a Chinese man standing and pointing, holding a kite on a pole over his shoulder. Ornamented at the shoulder with a wide, white ground band having a gilt lace pattern around the edge. The cylindrical neck topped with a circular, domed lid decorated with two small Chinoiserie reserves.
