Johann Auffenwerth

German, died 1728
BiographyLocated in the important craft and banking city of Augsburg, the Auffenwerth workshop consisted of father Johann (died 1728) and at least three of his daughters: Sabina, Anna Elisabeth and Johanna. Johann was a skilled goldsmith, painter and engraver who passed his talents on to his children, all of whom married into other important Augsburg craft families. Although the Auffenwerths were not as socially and economically powerful as the Seuters, a reference to the family in a 1758 journal by a visitor to Augsburg indicates they enjoyed a long-lasting local reputation.
