DescriptionTeotihuacan covered censer, Classic period, has a waisted cylindrical base with applied central knopped ornaments. The base is surmounted by a conical lid with the figure of the Butterfly God within a canoe, which has flattened outspread wings, pierced lozenge eyes, flanged nose ornament, and wearing massive headdress. Censer is decorated with twisted handles at the sides, and applied flowers and shells overall. Traces of red, ochre, green and white pigment remain.
