DescriptionA pair of Meissen bottles and covers of square section with wide body tapering to a tall neck. It is decorated in Holland in Kakiemon style with the so-called 'Hob in the Well' pattern Suma Kuang. The Chinese philosopher is rescuing his friend from a jar of water, with his servant standing to one side.
