DescriptionMeissen figure of Harlequin belonging to the very early period of Kaendler's work. He is sitting on a rocky white pillar with his legs apart, the left one resting firmly on the base and the right one against it and slightly pulled back. He looks over to the right with a smiling face holding a black and white pair of 'goat-bagpipes' under his left arm, and with the pale brown bellows dangling from his right wrist by a yellow strap. He wears the long brown pipe over his left shoulder hanging down his back. He sports a gold-trimmed black tricorn hat over his short brown hair and a white ruff and sleeve ruffles. He also wears a gold-braided iron-red tunic with long sleeves, gold buttons and a blue belt over purple breeches with knee garters in the shape of green flowers, and white stockings and a pair of yellow, red-heeled shoes with blue rosettes.
