It is enamelled on three large panels with the ‘Three Friends of Winter’ - one each for pine, prunus and bamboo - alternated with three panels of turquiose foliate scrolls on a red ground centred by a gilt chrysanthemum. The shoulder and cover have the same alternating panel scheme, and it is topped by a button knob.
