DescriptionTeapot of octagonal form, with a "Broken-C" scrolled handle and plain spout. Attached to the body is a pierced stainer with eight holes surrounding a single hole, and the octagonal cover has a leaping carp finial. Painted in underglaze blue with a scene of a seated scholar in Chinese costume under a tree issuing from a rock, the verso has variations. The lid is decorated with a similar scene but without the scholar, and details of leaf motif.
