DescriptionBow pair from the Italian Comedy representing Harlequin and Columbine. These figures are in dancing poses, Harlequin with his knee bent, left hand to his throat and his head thrown back, while Columbine has her right hand to her head and her right toe pointed. Harlequin is wearing a chequered costume in brilliant red, blue, green, yellow and brown, his wide brimmed black hat with a green feather, holding a yellow slapstick. Columbine is wearing a decollete bodice with a diamond pattern in red, blue, green and yellow. One sleeve has a similar pattern and the other yellow with scattered playing cards. She is wearing a green hat, pink skirt with blue spots. Both figures are on mound bases with applied flowers and leaves.
